Developing the Young Workforce Inverness and Central Highland team, sponsor of the secondary school pupil of the year award.
Our secondary schools form a hugely important role in the development of our young people.
Highland Heroes will celebrate and thank the pupils of secondary schools across the region with the award for secondary school pupil of the year which will be given to a pupil who has achieved something beyond expectations in education, sport or by helping others.
Developing the Young Workforce Inverness and Central Highland (DYWICH) is sponsoring the award for secondary school pupil of the year.
DYWICH programme manager Eilidh Edgar said: “We are delighted to be supporting Highland Heroes and sponsoring the secondary school pupil of the year award. DYWICH has a dedicated coordinator in every secondary school in the Inverness and Central Highland area and through our work, connecting employers with education and helping young people get work ready we come across many young heroes who achieve amazing things, demonstrating exceptional character, resilience, passion and dedication.
“This award is a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on their achievements and we would urge as many people as possible across our region to nominate someone in their community so we can celebrate how great our young people are.”
Highland Heroes is sponsored once again by Inverness Airport and features 14 categories where you can nominate individuals or groups in your community who you feel have gone above and beyond to support and care for others. New for 2023 is the green hero award which will be presented to an individual who is helping to create a cleaner, greener future.
The categories are:
Primary pupil
Primary teacher
Secondary pupil
Secondary teacher
School of the year

Emergency services/armed forces hero

Each week, your favourite Highland News & Media websites and newspapers include special features about each of the categories along with all the details of how you can nominate individuals or organisations in your community.
Once all of your nominations are in, our judging panel will face the difficult task of whittling down your entries to create a shortlist.
All the shortlistees will be featured in our special supplement where you will be invited to vote for your Highland Heroes of 2023!
As well as the 14 main categories, there is also a very special accolade which will be presented at the awards ceremony at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday, March 10, 2023. The hero of heroes will be decided by our judges from all of the winners at the ceremony and revealed on the night!
