Teachers play such an important role in our children’s lives, particularly in their primary school years.

Highland Heroes want to thank the amazing primary school teachers who support their young pupils at such a key stage in their development and we are inviting you to nominate your top primary school teacher.

NOMINATE at www.hnmedia.co.uk/highlandheroes by midnight, January 6, 2023.

The winner of the primary school teacher of the year award will be a teacher who has made a significant difference, beyond the normal expectations, to the learning experience of their pupils.

Ptarmigan Homes is sponsoring the award for primary school teacher of the year and this week HNM's business reporter, Rachel Smart, has been catching up with Ptarmigan's sales and marketing manager, Angela Roy.

Angela Roy, added: “Teachers play one of the most important roles in the development of our children and as they grow, their lives are shaped by those who care for and nurture their wellbeing. The importance of this is invaluable and will impact not only their education but also their mental health.

“Ptarmigan Homes Ltd is a family business that wholly believes in recognising the importance this can make and as such wants to recognise and reward those primary teachers who are making a positive impact on our children’s futures through valuing each child’s unique abilities and encouraging them to grow.

“Children are our future and primary teachers are unequivocally the early driving force of their success. To help children develop their own skills and celebrate their success in the early years will inevitably establish a healthy mindset for the future.”

The 2023 Highland Heroes, sponsored by Inverness Airport, feature 14 categories – including the brand new green hero award – where you can nominate individuals or groups in your community.

Each week, your favourite Highland News & Media newspapers and websites will include special features about each of the categories along with all the details of how you can nominate.

Once all of your nominations are in, our judging panel will face the difficult task of whittling down your entries to create a shortlist. All the shortlistees will be featured in our special supplement where you will be invited to vote for your Highland Heroes of 2023!

As well as the 14 main categories, there is also a very special accolade which will be presented at the awards ceremony at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday, March 10, 2023. The hero of heroes will be decided by our judges from all of the winners at the ceremony and revealed on the night!
