Fundraisers make a huge contribution to the lives of others, whether it is raising money for family or friends in need or supporting a local cause or charity close to their heart.

Highland Heroes wants to thank local fundraisers and celebrate their generosity with the award of fundraiser of the year.

NOMINATE at www.hnmedia.co.uk/highlandheroes by midnight, January 6, 2023.

The fundraiser of the year will be an individual who devotes his or her time and effort to raise funds for Highland charities or causes.

Inverness home flooring specialist, Sharon Leon, is sponsoring the award for fundraiser of the year.

Partner Jeni Alexander added: “Fundraisers make such an important contribution to their communities, providing support to those in need and making a huge difference to their everyday lives. They never ask for anything in return, not even a thank you. We’re delighted to give our support to Highland Heroes and sponsor the award for fundraiser of the year. This is our opportunity and yours to say thank you and show appreciation for the fundraisers in your community.”

Sponsored once again by Inverness Airport, the Highland Heroes awards feature 14 categories where you can nominate individuals or groups in your community. New for 2023 is the green hero award which will be presented to an individual who is helping to create a cleaner, greener future.

The categories are:

  • Primary pupil
  • Primary teacher
  • Secondary pupil
  • Secondary teacher
  • School of the year
  • Brave child
  • Carer
  • Fundraiser
  • Charitable organisation
  • Emergency services/armed forces hero
  • Healthcare hero
  • Volunteer
  • Community champion
  • Green hero

Each week, your favourite Highland News & Media newspapers and websites will include special features about each of the categories along with all the details of how you can nominate individuals or organisations in your community.

Once all of your nominations are in, our judging panel will whittle down your entries to create a shortlist.

All the shortlistees will be featured in our special supplement where you will be invited to vote for your Highland Heroes of 2023!

As well as the 14 main categories, there is also a very special accolade which will be presented at the awards ceremony at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday, March 10, 2023.

The hero of heroes will be decided by our judges from all of the winners at the ceremony and revealed on the night!
