Every community has its champion!

The person who generously helps others without asking for anything in return, not even a thank you.

We want you to tell us all about your community champions.

NOMINATE at www.hnmedia.co.uk/highlandheroes by midnight January 6, 2023.

The award for community champion of the year will be presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to their community.

Springfield is sponsoring the award for community champion of the year.

Springfield managing director (north), Dave Main, said: “At Springfield, we know it takes more than houses to create a home. It takes people, places for children to play and local amenities nearby – it takes a community. We understand the importance of communities and work hard to engage with our neighbours at the planning stages of our future sites, we keep in contact during construction, and look to support and engage with those living in our homes once they’ve moved in.

“That’s why we’re excited to support the community champion category of the Highland Heroes awards. We want to hear about those people who are helping to shape and make communities across the Highlands. These awards are an excellent way to celebrate these people and give them the recognition they deserve.”

Sponsored by Inverness Airport, the Highland Heroes awards feature 14 categories where you can nominate individuals or groups in your community who you feel have gone above and beyond to support and care for others.

New for 2023 is the green hero award which will be presented to an individual who is helping to create a cleaner, greener future.

Each week, your favourite Highland News & Media newspapers and websites will include special features about each of the categories along with all the details of how you can nominate individuals or organisations in your community.

Here are the categories:

  • Primary pupil
  • Primary teacher
  • Secondary pupil

Once all of your nominations are in, our judging panel will face the difficult task of whittling down your entries to create a shortlist.

All the shortlistees will be featured in our special supplement where you will be invited to vote for your Highland Heroes of 2023!

As well as the 14 main categories, there is also a very special accolade which will be presented at the awards ceremony at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday March 10, 2023.

The hero of heroes will be decided by our judges from all of the winners at the ceremony and revealed on the night!
