COURT ROUND-UP: Attempted murder, £40k drugs haul, assault and allegations of weapons in public

Inverness Sheriff Court saw a mix of criminal business in February.

Here the Inverness Courier recaps some of the cases that made the headlines this month.

A man admitted crashing into a parked police vehicle on the A9 while more than three times the drink-drive limit.

Shafeer Rishad (25) failed to stop despite being flagged down by an officer before the smash - which resulted in the police car's wheel coming off and narrowly missing another uniformed colleague.

A man appeared in court charged in connection with allegations of threatening and abusive behaviour and possession of weapons in public.

Alan Craig (55) had his hearing in private.

A man and woman have admitted ransacking an Inverness hotel for alcohol and money.

Phillip Arnold (42) and Stephanie Norman (43) carried out the raid on October 6, 2020, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

An Inverness woman was remanded in custody after appearing in court facing a catalogue of charges including assault to danger of life.

Paige Ruddy (32) appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court facing five charges.

They included allegations of assaulting a person in their home to their injury and danger of life, a further assault to injury, another assault, assaulting a member of the emergency services and a final charge of a breach of bail.

An Inverness woman admitted coughing at a police officer during the height of the pandemic.

Courtney Smith (23) pled guilty to the charge of behaving in a culpable and reckless manner when she appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The court heard the incident happened after she was taken to Burnett Road police station on September 8, 2020 - when Covid-19 was still rife.

An Inverness man has been remanded in custody after appearing on an attempted murder charge.

Kyle Drummond Allan (24) appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with multiple alleged offences.

A Ross-shire man admitted assaulting a police officer in Inverness city centre.

Andrew Burgess (29) spat on the male officer's head when confronted on the city's Queensgate on February 11 last year, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

He was taken into custody but the following day at Burnett Road police station he tried to assault the same officer.

Sentence has been deferred on an Inverness man caught with £40,000 worth of amphetamine.

The city’s sheriff court heard the drugs were found within a vehicle being driven by Henry Dickinson (27).

An Inverness man who took a vehicle without the owner's consent and without a valid driving licence was banned from the roads for six months.

Gavin Hampton (24) had been with the driver of the vehicle and repeatedly asked to get a go behind the wheel, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

A pensioner was banned from driving for a year after being found drunk behind the wheel in an Inverness car park.

Michael Quigley (71) was found by ambulance staff in Rose Street retail park on the night of September 3 last year, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

A Sutherland man who shouted and swore at his pregnant partner causing her to call the police was ordered to stay away from her

Joshua Latham (31) got into a row with the woman on September 23 last year at an address in Bught Drive, Inverness.

A Beauly woman has admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 13 grams of the class A drug were found at the Station Road address of Maria Stewart (30).
