ADAM Brooks believes there is no reason why Inverness Caledonian Thistle can’t reach the Scottish Cup final again this season.

The striker says Inverness are capable of replicating last season’s incredible run when they got to the final and pushed Premiership champions Celtic all the way before going down 3-1 at Hampden.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle now face Premiership outfit Hibernian in the Scottish Cup fifth round on Saturday, February 10.

Inverness defeated Lowland League outfit Broomhill 4-0 on Saturday to book their place in the fifth round of the competition.

With Premiership teams Dundee, St Johnstone and Ross County all being knocked out of the fourth round, Brooks believes that a good run-in could make them capable of reaching Hampden again.

He said: “There was talk in the changing room that you never know with the cup upsets.

“You always want to play against the Old Firm, but you always want to get as far as possible as well as wanting to get somebody good too.

“I never got to experience Caley Thistle getting to the Scottish Cup final last year, and I don’t see why we couldn’t this season.”

Brooks came on as a substitute after he scored twice in the 4-0 win over Broomhill on Saturday.

The 19-year-old joined Inverness from Celtic at the beginning of the campaign and says he is enjoying his time at the club.

He hopes his goals on Saturday can push his case for being a regular first team player.

“I have been working hard in training and hopefully I will get some chances to score some more.

“All you can do is show them on the park, you work hard behind closed doors, but it is what you do on the park that matters. I done that today and hopefully it will result in more first team starts.

“I have loved every minute of my time in Inverness, it was tough experiencing this kind of weather for the first time, but it is good.

“I am living with Austin Samuels and we get on quite well.

“It is a great group of lads, we are all social and pals and there is no bad blood and it is always good in the squad. There was nothing more I could ask for to come on and score and I am happy that I was able to come on and show that I could do that.”

Speaking about the win on Saturday, Brooks said: “I thought that it was a really professional performance from everybody. We know all about cup upsets and the importance of having to do a professional job and we did that. At first they were brave and there wasn’t a high line at first and we weren’t penetrating. Then they sat in and made it difficult for us.

“After the opening goal, we thought it was going to start flowing for us and it was good. There was nothing more I could ask for to come on and score and I am happy that I was able to come on and show that I could do that.”
