Two young Inverness talents said winning a sought-after scholarship at a city performing arts school is helping them grow in confidence.
Jessica Macfarlane (14) and Kirsty Wilson (10) were selected last year for a scholarship at TFX Performing Arts, which offered them free weekly musical theatre lessons for the year.
After six months of lessons, the pupils shared their experience at TFX and what getting the scholarship – run in partnership with the Inverness Courier – has offered them.
"I'm really enjoying it, I love that when I finish on a Friday I get to come and see all my friends," said Jessica.
The young talent was selected after last year's TFX summer show and she hopes to have a career in the performing industry.
Talking about the announcement, she said: "I was so shocked, I didn't expect it all. I was smiling for days.
"The show is always such a highlight, I'm so excited for this year.
"When you see something you've been working on come together that's the best feeling, a song we've been practicing with the choreography is such a feeling of achievement."
Kirsty was not a TFX student before and she joined the school thanks to the scholarship, alongside her sister.
"It's really exciting experience and I'm glad I've made so many friends," she said.
"Everyone is so nice here, it's so nice to have a place to go that you get to do your favourite thing but also everyone is your friend.
She said that winning the scholarship and attending the past months of lessons really helped grow her confidence.
"I felt like I was so much more capable than I ever thought," she said.
She will now take part to her first-ever summer show.
"When we got told what show we are doing that was unbelievable, the atmosphere was amazing."
