Two young Inverness talents were selected for a sought-after scholarship at a city performing arts school.

After a difficult selection, TFX Performing Arts named Jessica Macfarlane (14) and Kirsty Wilson (10) as winners for this year's scholarships, which will see them getting free weekly musical theatre lessons for the year.

The initiative is run in partnership with the Inverness Courier.

Jessica, a veteran TFX pupil, was named after being recognised as "Most Promising Performer" at the school's summer show.

Kirsty on the contrary is a new addition to TFX and has joined the school alongside her sister Iona (who also auditioned for the scholarship).

TFX Head of Drama and Creative Assistant Amy Crook said: "When we saw Kirsty's video, we just knew we had to have her as part of the TFX family. Her energy just came through so clearly and she made us all smile. We are delighted to welcome Kirsty and can’t wait to see where this journey takes her.”

Fiona (Kirstys mum) said: “This is such a great opportunity for Kirsty, herself and her sister Iona took the initiative to apply for the scholarship themselves. They turned the living room into a dance studio and got it done. I’m very proud of Kirsty for achieving this and know she will love TFX.”

Jessica said: “I’ve been a student at TFX for a long time now but to achieve the award of “Most Promising Performer” and a scholarship is just mind blowing.

"I’m really grateful for the opportunity and just happy I get to keep attending the class I love with my friends. I’ve watched the other scholarship winners and seen how well they’ve done so it’s a lot to live up to but I’m excited for the year ahead.”
