AFTER a successful year in 2021/2022, TFX Performing Arts Academy and The Inverness Courier have renewed their scholarship deal to offer two places to talented young performers, and applications open today.

The lucky winners will receive one three hour musical theatre class a week, beginning August 20 until the end of term in August 2023.

They will also feature in monthly articles in The Inverness Courier showcasing their progress, including interviews and picture opportunities.

TFX is the longest running musical theatre school in the Highlands with over 20 years experience. They host a yearly show at Eden Court where students have the chance to show off their skills.

Dance teacher Amy Crook said they are looking for raw talent and promise in hopeful applicants.

She continued: “We are offering a year's worth of training at our musical theatre class. The benefits of these classes are advancing skill in drama, dance and singing but also building on important life skills such as confidence.

"Last year our scholarship winners thrived throughout the year. We saw such a big difference in their ability and were blown away by their performances in our Eden Court.

"We are so excited to see who is going to apply this year and how we can help guide them to explore their talents at TFX."

Steve Barron, publishing director of Highland News and Media, is delighted to partner with TFX again after working so closely with them over the past year.

He added: "We are delighted to partner with TFX again to help support young, local talent. We are looking forward to seeing the entries and meeting this year's winners!"

To apply, fill in the application form online and submit a video audition of you performing a skill of your choice.

Applications are open from July 27 - August 10 and applicants must be between 7-18 years old.

Last year's scholarship winner, Alicia Curtis, got accepted to the esteemed Performers College in England and will leave TFX this year to continue her training.

Alicia said that the scholarship opened up new training opportunities for her as she had not focussed on musical theatre before, and that she really enjoyed it.

Once the applications close, TFX staff will review entries and let the winner know by August 12.
