Road policing officers in the Highlands have issued an appeal for witnesses and information following a three-vehicle crash on the A96 near Inverness.

Four people were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment following last night's incident near Balloch and one woman remains in a serious condition.

The road was closed for about four hours to allow for investigation and vehicle recovery.

The incident happened at 3.50pm and involved a Renault Megane Scenic, a Peugeot 307 and a Nissan Cabstar.

Police Scotland said the female driver of the Renault remains in hospital, where her condition is described as serious but stable.

The driver and two passengers of the Nissan have been discharged while the driver of the Peugeot did not require hospital treatment.

Sergeant Alasdair MacKay, of Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: "We are appealing for anyone who was on the A96 near Balloch and either witnessed the crash or believes they saw the vehicles involved beforehand, to please get in touch."

Anyone with information which may help with inquiries, or any potential dashcam footage, should call police on 101, quoting incident 2330 of 10 November, 2023.
