The first ever show by a Nairn community theatre group was a roaring success, with all three sessions sold out well in advance.

With ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, a sparkling festive panto, the brand new group Community Acting and Singing Together (CAST) hopes to have raised around £2000 for Team Hamish and the Nairn County Improvement Fund.

Co-founder of CAST, Jean Morrison, said: “After three sell-out shows we had an absolutely amazing response from our audiences.

“Everyone loved it and we are all very proud of our first production. The support from the town, through sponsors, raffle donations and moral support, was heart-warming.

“We have been so very lucky to get the back-up we have had and the town having faith in us and coming to see us made it all worthwhile.”

She added: “The team at the community centre was just so accommodating and, thanks to Sarah and the Seaforth Club, we had somewhere to rehearse.

“Henderson’s Garage provided us with a van to transport props and costumes, and sponsored us too, and KBE Events provided our technical support with great sounds and fantastic lighting and effects.”

Donations will be presented to the two selected good causes soon and, after a well-deserved rest, the team will be back at work preparing a new adult pantomime production for the spring.

Plans are also already under way for a new Christmas pantomime in mid-December.
