Inverness's reigning Miss Scotland has said that it feels 'incredible' to represent Inverness this International Women's Day at the Miss World competition in India as she continues to compete against over 100 women from across the globe.

Chelsie Allison (26) scooped the title of Miss Scotland in October.

Now, the Tesco Mobile retail manager is spending five weeks in India as part of the Miss World competition.

She said: "It is incredible to be at Miss World for International Women's Day, celebrating the amazing women of the world."

112 women from around the world representing their countries have come together to celebrate International Women's Day with a simple message.

A spokesperson from Miss World said: "Today we stand together to celebrate incredible women from around the world and lend our collective voice to ‘inspire inclusion’, break down barriers and create a truly gender inclusive society."

In aid of the pageant, Chelsie has also supported the Highland Hospice as her chosen charity after two of her relatives, who sadly passed away, were taken into the hospice where they received an exceptional standard of care.

She now plans to continue her work alongside the hospice and aims to raise as much money as possible for the cause.
