Inverness's reigning Miss Scotland performed a Highland fling at the Miss World talent show in India as she competed against over 100 women from across the globe.

Chelsie Allison (26) scooped the title of Miss Scotland in October.

Now, the Tesco Mobile retail manager is spending five weeks in India as part of the Miss World competition.

One challenge Chelsie has faced head on was a talent show whereby she performed a traditional Highland fling.

When talking about this challenge she said: "With the talent round each girl, if they wanted to, could perform a talent to a panel of judges.

"The girls who pass the talent round will then progress to the talent final where one winner will be picked and will secure a space in the top 40.

"For this I performed a Highland fling. I have done Highland dancing since a young age and have been practising a lot for the last few months with my dancing teacher, Elise Lyall, so I was really excited to perform!

"The judges and other contestants seemed to love it and were all clapping along so fingers crossed I am able to make the talent final."

Chelsie has been set numerous challenges throughout her time in India, including a sports day, presentation project and multimedia challenge.

She said: "So far we have had a sports challenge which was a bleep test and five girls from each contest were picked to participate in the sports day.

"Unfortunately, I didn’t make the top five but we were still able to go support our team mates who did, which was amazing!"

When set the challenge to perform a presentation, Chelsie chose to speak about the work she has done alongside Highland Hospice.

She said: "We had a head-to head challenge where we presented our beauty with a purpose project.

"In my project I spoke about the work I have done alongside the Highland Hospice, the work they do and services they provide throughout the Highlands.

"I also discussed the work I plan to do in future with other charities such as Endometriosis UK."

She added: "We have been given a multimedia challenge which has a variety of tasks involved. Firstly, we were asked to promote the ‘save the tigers’ campaign across our social media and Miss World website.

"Each contestant also had a page on the MobStar app, which is where the public can view and ‘like’ your posts, which can gain you extra points.

"Engagement over the various social media platforms is also very important.

"It is how you interact with the public across your social media pages that all count towards determining who will win the multimedia challenge."

Chelsie is currently rehearsing for the Miss World final show that will take place in Mumbai and will be broadcast live on YouTube and the Miss World website.

She said: "Over the past three days we’ve been rehearsing for the different ‘scenes’ that will collectively be the final show which will be on March 9, 2.30pm UK time.

"The rehearsals have actually been really fun!

"It gives us more time to get to know each other and have a bit of fun. The rehearsals have made it feel a lot more real for me.

"I think the last week has been a bit of a whirlwind and I don’t think it’s really sunk in that I will be on a stage in front of 120 other countries."

Chelsie continues on her mission to bring the Miss World crown home to Inverness while supporting the Highland Hospice.
