An Inverness-born actress famous for starring in Doctor Who, Jumanji and Guardians of the Galaxy enjoyed an evening in the city last night.

Karen Gillan - who has just landed a guest role in The Simpsons - enjoyed a night at Mangrove, which the restaurant owners have described as an 'incredible honour'.

Taking to social media the Indian restaurant on Academy Street said: "Last night, we had the incredible honour of hosting Karen Gillan for dinner at Mangrove. Not only is she an extraordinary individual, but she also graciously took a photo with our entire team.

"Thank you, Karen, for your presence, and we can't wait to see you shine on the big screen once again.
