Duncan Ferguson says there were no excuses for Caley Thistle's defeat against Queen's Park saying his team were made to pay for not taking their chances in a match he thinks they dominated.

Inverness' poor home form continued where they have only won two home matches in the league this season with a 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

Dominic Thomas scored the only goal of the game to give Queen's Park victory and move them within one point of Inverness Caledonian Thistle in seventh and Dunfermline Athletic in eighth.

Ferguson says his team dominated the match and there were no excuses for not making it count and ending up losing the match.

He said: "There are no excuses in a game we dominated from start to finish.

"We had a lot of shots but couldn't get the breakthrough. As the game continues, you get worried it doesn't happen for you.

"We didn't defend our goal well enough and he gets a free hit. We had upteen attempts and we should have taken at least one of them.

"If you don't score when you are dominant, you are worried about a sucker punch. We didn't seem to connect well enough in the final third.

"I've highlighted we are not good enough at home."

Queen's Park manager Callum Davidson praised his team for getting themselves within touching distance of pulling themselves out of the relegation zone with victory at Inverness

The Spiders have won three of their last four matches and David

Victory against Dunfermline Athletic in the only game in the Championship next weekend could move them to at least seventh place.

Davidson says confidence is growing they can avoid the drop this season.

He said: "In the last four games we have picked up nine points and it is a good return.

"First half was ok, Inverness got strong into the game and tactically weren't at it.

"But a few tweaks made us better in the second half, difficult and we're delighted to get the three points.

"There is not a lot of difference between teams in this league, it is all pretty close as any team can beat anyone, we did the right things defensively.

"We have a big one next week to get something out of, it will be a tough game and we need to make sure we go with the same attitude as we did in the second half."
