INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle goalkeeper Corey Patterson will stay at Highland League club Clachnacuddin at least until the end of January after impressing for the Lilywhites in recent matches.

The 17-year-old has played in the last two matches for Clach after arriving on a short-term loan deal from the Championship outfit and kept clean sheets in both matches.

He helped Clachnacuddin to a 0-0 draw against Deveronvale and played in the 8-0 win over Wick Academy at Grant Street Park on Saturday.

Patterson was brought in on loan at Clachnacuddin who are experiencing injury problems with goalkeepers, including regular number one Martin Mackinnon who has been out for months as he continues his recovery.

Mackinnon, who signed a new contract in September is expected to return to training soon, but will not be rushed back in action, with Patterson expected to keep the gloves in the next few weeks.

Patterson has previously been on loan at Highland League clubs Forres Mechanics and Wick Academy as well as at North Caledonian League outfit Inverness Athletic.

Manager Conor Gethins, who came in as manager in October, is pleased with the job Patterson has done in goal for Clachnacuddin.

He is pleased to retain his services for at least another month after keeping clean sheets in his last two games.

"Corey was brought in as an emergency loan as our goalkeepers are either injured or have work commitments," said Gethins.

"Martin Mackinnon will be back in training next week, but he will need time to get up to speed and we will give him time to do that.

"We will have Corey for at least the next month which is as good as he has been excellent."
