Clachnacuddin will celebrate a happy new year after they thrashed Wick Academy to pick up their second win in the Highland League this season.

The Lilywhites ran riot in the first half to kill the game off before half time in an impressive victory at Grant Street Park.

Harry Nicolson broke the deadlock after seven minutes after a scramble in the box from a corner kick saw the ball fall to him and he fired a low drive into the net from 12 yards.

Harry Hennem doubled Clachnacuddin's advantage just before the half hour mark when he connected with a cross from the left wing and fired a powerful volley past goalkeeper James More.

Troy Cooper made it three, four minutes before half time, when he was allowed to charge into the box and fired a low drive past the goalkeeper.

On the stroke of half time, Lewis Mackenzie managed to run around the goalkeeper before firing a low drive from a tight angle into the net to kill the game off.

Connor Bunce came close to getting on the scoresheet on the hour mark when he was clean through on goal, but shot straight at More who diverted the ball away from danger.

But the hosts did get their fifth when Mackenzie beat the offside trap to run on to pass from Troy Cooper. Maintains his composure as fires a low drive past James More.

Two minutes later, Hennem hit Wick for six with his second of the afternoon when he was left unchallenged to fire home a cross from Mackenzie to make it 6-0.

Mackenzie then grabbed his hat trick three minutes later when he fired a powerful shot from a tight angle from 12-yards past More.

The rout was completed in injury time when Cooper grabbed his second as he pounces shot from Robert Urquhart which crashed off the underside of the crossbar and fired home.
