NAIRN County have signed attacking forward Calum Mackay from Inverness Caledonian Thistle on a loan deal until the end of the year.

The 18-year-old could make his debut against managerless Clachnacuddin in the Highland League clash in Inverness later today.

Mackay is the brother of former Caley Thistle star Daniel Mackay, who is currently on loan at Premiership club Livingston from Hibernian.

Mackay has played for Inverness' first team, making his debut against Motherwell in the last 16 of the League Cup last season.

He also featured for Caley Thistle in Trust Trophy matches against Brechin City and Hamilton Academical last season.

Manager Steven Mackay said the new addition to the squad will give him options.

He said: “He is comfortable playing on either side or centrally, which gives us a range of options in terms of where we use him to strengthen our team.

“We have pursued Calum for a while now and he was close to joining us last season at the same time as Matthew Strachan, but he sustained a knee injury, which has hampered his progress.

"He has been back in full time training for about a month now though and he is fit and raring to go and eager to make up for lost time.

“We would like to thank Inverness Caledonian Thistle for allowing us to take Calum on loan and we are excited to be working with him over the next few months.”

Nairn County play their first match since upsetting Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the North of Scotland Cup semi final at Station Park on Wednesday night when they beat them in a penalty shootout.

It has also been confirmed Sam Nixon and Jack Walker have gone on loan from Inverness Caledonian Thistle to Highland League club Forres Mechanics.
