Clachnacuddin are closing in on agreeing a deal to appoint their new manager, although can’t guarantee things will be finalised before their game against Nairn County on Saturday.

However, Nairn County forward Conor Gethins is strongly tipped to become the club’s next manager.

But neither Clachnacuddin or Nairn County have confirmed that the 39-year-old forward is on his way to Grant Street Park to take over as manager from Jordan MacDonald at the time of going to press.

Clachnacuddin chairman Alex Chisholm would not comment on Gethins being linked with the vacant position.

But he says the club are looking to make an appointment soon, although could not guarantee if it would be made before tomorrow’s clash with Nairn County at Grant Street Park.

“We are hoping to get something down and negotiations are being done,” he said.

“It is only fair on interim managers Blair Lawrie and Martin Callum to keep them up to date and for them to prepare for the match on Saturday.

“I would like to get something done as soon as possible as I think we need to push things through.

“Names have been thrown about and there is more than one option.

“But for everyone’s sake, I want to get someone in as we have some important games coming up.

“We also need to improve our league position and work needs to be done so we can do that.”

Clachnacuddin are still looking for their first win in the Highland League this season after failing to find a victory from their 11 matches so far.

They are currently second bottom of the table with just four points.

Former manager Jordan MacDonald was sacked by Clachnacuddin after losing 8-0 at Huntly on September 30.

However, Clachnacuddin did beat Inverurie Locos 1-0 in the Scottish Cup first round and now head to League Two outfit Peterhead in the second round next weekend.

Lawrie and Callum were appointed in temporary charge of the Lilywhites and have achieved some respectable results since.

They are undefeated in their last two matches, which included a 2-2 draw against Banks O’Dee in Aberdeen and a 1-1 draw at Forres Mechanics.
