Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender signs for Championship rivals Arbroath

Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Zak Delaney has signed with Championship rivals Arbroath.

The 22-year-old Irishman has signed with the Red Lichties on a deal until the end of the season after he left Caley Thistle on Friday.

The former Republic of Ireland U17 and U20 internationalist began his senior career with English Championship side West Bromwich Albion, before signing for Inverness Caledonian Thistle 18 months ago.

During his time at Inverness he made 52 appearances, but this season most of appearances were limited to coming off the bench.

Arbroath manager Jim McIntyre was happy to secure Delaney's services.

He said: “I am really happy to confirm the signing of Zak, he offers us options across the left-hand side of defence and is a player I have seen on many occasions for Inverness and will be an important member of the squad this season.”

It has also been confirmed that midfielder Lewis Hyde has gone on loan to Highland League club Brora Rangers until the end of the season.

Former captain Sean Welsh also left the club on Friday and is believed to be close to signing for Championship outfit Queen's Park.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle academy graduate Harry Hennem also left the club to sign for Highland League outfitn Nairn County.
