MANAGER Duncan Ferguson was sent off in the first half but Inverness Caledonian Thistle still managed to run riot without him in the dugout in an impressive win against Queen's Park at Hampden.

Ferguson was sent to the stands on the stroke of half time after referee Craig Napier took exception to the manager's protests from the sidelines.

Both teams went into the break level at 1-1 with Jack Turner giving Queen's Park the lead before Max Anderson levelled for Caley Thistle.

But Nikola Ujdur gave Inverness the lead just before the hour mark before a strike from David Wotherspoon and a penalty from Billy Mckay killed the game off as the visitors claimed all three points in Glasgow.

Ferguson kept faith with the same starting 11 that lost 2-1 against Raith Rovers last week at the Caledonian Stadium.

Queen's Park took the lead after 10 minutes when Dominic Thomas' cross from the right wing found Turner who managed to fire a low drive from eight yards out into the net.

But Inverness levelled 10 minutes later when a David Wotherspoon's pass found Nathan Shaw on the right wing. His cross into the box found Anderson who fired a low drive home from eight yards out.

Inverness created a number of chances to take the lead in the first half, with Shaw and Anderson both forcing fine saves from Queen's Park goalkeeper Calum Ferrie.

Centre back Ujdur also found himself in front of goal twice with great chance to take the lead but failed to find the net.

The Spiders then went close to regaining the lead when Jack Thomson's thunderous effort from 20-yards out smacked against the crossbar.

Then on the stroke of half time, Ferguson was sent to the stands as the referee felt he had taken protests too far, leaving assistant manager Gary Bollan in charge for the rest of the match.

His sending off came after being named Scottish Championship manager of the month for November yesterday.

However, Inverness took the lead just before the hour mark when Ujdur beat everyone in the box to nod home a corner kick from close range.

It was the Australian's first goal since signing for the club in September.

David Wotherspoon, who was named as the Scottish Championship player of the month for November, then made it 3-1 in the 74th minute when he ran through the heart for the Queen's Park's defence and fired a low drive past Ferrie.

The game was killed off with 11 minutes remaining when Inverness won a penalty when Cameron Bruce brought down Wotherspoon in the box.

Billy Mckay made no mistake from the spot to fire his shot into the bottom left corner of the net as Inverness moved to sixth place in the Scottish Championship.

After the match, Queen's Park confirmed Robin Veldman was no longer manager of the club.
