David Carson says Inverness Caledonian Thistle will be looking to avoid being the victim of a Scottish Cup upset when they take on Broomhill in their fourth round clash this afternoon.

Inverness are set to welcome the Lowland League outfit to the Caledonian Stadium as they look to book their place in the fifth round of the competition.

Caley Thistle went on an incredible run to reach the Scottish Cup final last season when they push Scottish champions Celtic all the way in a 3-1 defeat at Hampden.

Now after defeating Cowdenbeath 2-0 in the third round in November, they take on a Broomhill team, who are now based in Dumbarton after relocating from Cumbernauld, who are in 12th place in the Lowland League.

Carson says Broomhill have nothing to lose going into the match and Inverness must adopt a professional attitude to see them off.

He said: "Broomhill is going to give it a right good go and we have to respect them. We have to do a professional job to get to the next round.

"I don't know a lot about them, we will look to go through parts of the game and see some footage of them. They will come here and give it a right good go. We will be right about our game and do a professional job.

"When they come here, they will want to cause an upset, we don't want that to happen and it's up to us to do everything right and put on a good show to get to the next round.

"It is about patience, they will come here and have a go, they will have a plan to try and frustrate us.

"We will have to move the ball quick and hopefully that will settle it down a bit more and they will have to open us. But when the chances come we will have to take it and make sure we are on the right track.

"We want to progress, last season we played the Premier League winners in the final. We want to test ourselves against the Premiership sides, we need to get through the fourth round and see where the draw gets us."

Carson says playing in a Scottish Cup final against Celtic was one of the highlights of his career.

He says he used the experience of playing in the cup final to help improve him as a player as well as used his own experience of preparing young players for cup matches.

"It was great to be part of. I still look at the draw of how we got there, obviously it wasn't easy at times.

We need to be professional for Saturday, we can't look too far forward and just the next round.

"When you get to a cup final and don't win it is not ideal. But it was an occasion you could learn from and take on into your career, hopefully when it comes round again, I can use it as a platform on how to get there and what may need to be done to achieve that.

"I can try and use that go forward and pass it going forward that is for sure."
