HEAVY snow could cause travel disruption in the Highlands later today and into tonight, the Met Office has warned after it issued another yellow weather warning.
The new alert comes in response to an approaching band of rain which will push in from the south-west later today.
It is expected to encounter much colder air across Scotland, with the rain then turning readily to snow - especially over higher routes but also down to lower levels for a time before finally turning back to rain overnight.

The yellow warning covers most of the Highlands apart from Caithness and the westernmost tips of the mainland at Applecross, Mallaig, Ardnamurchan and Morvern.
It will be in place from 4pm on Wednesday until 4am on Thursday.
A Met Office spokesman: "Spells of snow are expected to develop Wednesday late afternoon and early evening, mainly in areas above 100 to 200 metres.
"Later on Wednesday evening and during Thursday early hours this snow will then turn to rain as milder weather conditions spread across the British Isles.
"Meanwhile, below 100 to 200 metres, snow may fall briefly during the late afternoon and early evening before turning to rain.
"Snow accumulations will be mainly in areas above 200 to 300 metres with several centimetres of snow falling in some places, especially in Scotland, and above 400 metres more than 10 centimetres of snow is possible in places."
