An initiative seeking to create a community-led local place plan for Nairn is moving forward.

Following a series of drop-in consultations held engaging with various groups in Nairnshire, the Local Place Plan team is set to host a series of workshops this month.

These will include focusing on specific themes which emerged during the community consultation.

Among the key areas set to be explored are business and jobs, getting around, town and village centres, green space and leisure and sustainable futures.

Steering group spokesperson Alastair Noble said: “The response from the community so far has been tremendous, things are moving forward.

“From our consultation, one of the main themes on which to focus is jobs and businesses. We want Nairn to be an attractive place for people to live and work in the future, not for it to become a dormitory town.”

The workshops will be one of the final steps of data collection, after which the steering group will begin to analyse responses and draft the local place plan to meet the deadline in September 2024.

The workshops will be running between May 9 and May 16 – participation will be based on an invitation basis at this stage.
