Joyce Collinson was shocked to win the £300 after being nominated by her neighbour.

One lucky woman from Inverness has been “overwhelmed” after winning a pensioner raffle.

Joyce Collinson, received £300 after her neighbour bought raffle tickets for her as part of TM Barbers' anniversary celebrations.

The Inverness Courier previously reported that Tracy Morris was hosting a raffle to celebrate one year in business, and had decided to give back to the local community by raising funds to support a pensioner with the cost of living.

After an excellent response from other businesses that gave donations such as, bottles of whisky and electric blankets, Ms Morris was able to give prizes to seven winners.

The total raised through the raffle went to Mrs Collinson, who's neighbour had bought 53 tickets for her without her knowing.

It was a big surprise to her when Ms Morris turned up at her door telling her she had won the £300.

Mrs Collinson said: “My neighbour next door nominated me, it was such a shock and I felt quite emotional - it was so kind”

“Things have been quite difficult and I lost my husband in March, so winning £300 is overwhelming. It has given me such a boost.”

Speaking about her plans with the money, she added: “I have ideas - I still haven’t got over it. I’ve never won anything like this before."

Ms Morris said: “Everyone was wanting to take part which was very nice.

“Thank you to everyone who bought tickets.

“One woman sold 86 tickets for me which was incredible.”
