Skipinnish have announced a very special guest will be joining them at their 25th anniversary concert in Inverness next summer – none other than Runrig legend Malcolm Jones!
Jones was a member of the iconic Scottish band Runrig from 1978 until 2018 when the group took to the stage for the last time at Stirling Castle.
The former guitarist has been announced as a very special guest for the show, taking place at the Big Top Under Canvas in Bught Park, Inverness as part of the Live in the City concert series on July 6. Supporting guest acts for the night are still to be confirmed.
Skipinnish co-founder Angus MacPhail said: “Malcolm has been a huge part of the Skipinnish story throughout our 25 years. He has been a big influence on our sound, a great advisor to us as a band and a great friend, so it is extra special that he accepted our invitation to perform with us.
“He is a big name across Scotland and beyond so we know that our audience in Inverness will love to see him on stage and show him much love.”
Caitlin Brown of LCC Live – the organisers of Live in the City – said: “We are very excited to welcome Malcolm Jones of Runrig to the billing. We have had the pleasure of working with Malcolm and Runrig previously over the last 15 years, and know just how much of magnificent performer he is!
“And to welcome him back once again as a special guest of Skipinnish’s 25th Anniversary Concert will be such a special moment – we can’t wait!”
Skipinnish announced back in September of this year their plans to commemorate 25 years since they formed with the Inverness show, which they sold out back in 2022 at the same venue.
Tickets for Skipinnish ‘The 25th Anniversary Concert’ are on sale now from ticketline.co.uk and from Caffery’s Menswear in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness.
