PREPARATIONS are underway for a much-awaited Hogmanay event.

More than 5000 people are expected to attend the Red Hot Highland Fling, which is set to be back at Inverness Northern Meeting Park tomorrow evening.

Organisers are still keeping an eye on weather forecasts but they said they are positive that the event will go on as planned – although revelles are being advised to wrap up warm.

Depute Provost of Inverness, Jackie Hendry said: "We are really excited about it, this is the first big chance for ppl in Inverness to get together and celebrate and be together with friends and family. It's going to be a great event and the Highland does really know how to party.

"There will be a real buzz about the city tomorrow and hopefully people attending the event will also hopefully go and use the bars and restaurants in the centre and visitors will be able to enjoy the eateries we have there over the next few days."

Event organiser Liam Christie, from North Highland Events, said: "We are really super excited to bring a large event to Inverness after three years of not having anything at all.

"There's a bit of local traditional music and folk rock, and the Scottish super group Manran so it will be a great night.

"We are expecting a really good crowd, ticket numbers have been fantastic and we are now at capacity.

"It's really good to have this now, there is a real clamour for live events and it's great to get people out at events again."

It will be the first time the event will be back after two years of Covid restrictions.

On the night Torridon, Manran and Tweed will be entertaining the crowds before the countdown.
