Electricity supplies have been restored to houses in Dalneigh after they were temporarily shut off to help firefighters tackle a house blaze.

Four fire engines – three from Inverness and one from Drumnadrochit – were scrambled to a house fire in St Valery Avenue shortly before 6am on Thursday.

All occupants were safely evacuated by the time firefighters arrived on site, and police later confirmed that power was shut off to neighbouring properties in St Valery Avenue and Bruce Gardens to assist the fire crews as they tackled the flames.

Posting a subsequent update at lunch time, police confirmed these supplies had since been restored.

A police spokesperson said: "Power has been restored to properties on St Valery Avenue and Bruce Gardens in Inverness as emergency services continue to deal with a house fire in the area.

"No one has been injured in the incident and emergency services remain at the scene."
