One person was rushed to hospital after a camper van caught fire on the A82 in Inverness.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near Tomnahurich Cemetery on the city's Glenurquhart Road after the alarm was raised at 2.51 pm today.

Two fire units and a fire car were first on the scene and firefighters using a hose reel jet and thermal imaging equipment extinguished the flames, before departing at 3.17 pm.

One casualty, an occupant of the large white van, was taken to Raigmore Hospital by ambulance.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 15:27 to attend an incident on Glenurquhart Road, Inverness. One ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to Raigmore Hospital.”

Police remain at the scene to divert traffic around the vehicle.
