A man has been taken to hospital following reports of a disturbance this afternoon in an Inverness neighbourhood.

Police officers remain at the scene in Gilbert Street, Merkinch.

An area outside a block of flats by the River Ness has been taped off and an ambulance was seen leaving the scene earlier.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said officers were made aware of a disturbance on Gilbert Street about 2.25pm.

"One man has been taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and inquiries are ongoing," the spokesperson said.
