Highland Council has confirmed that an Inverness school and nursery are closed today due to a burst pipe.

The authority announced earlier that Muirtown Primary School and Nursery are not open "due to damage to the building".

A council spokeswoman today said: “Muirtown Primary School is closed today due to some damage caused by flooding.

"We are working to resolve the issue and an update on the school’s reopening will be communicated to parents and carers in due course.”
