Firefighters tackling the fire which engulfed the building of the former Clachnacharry nursing home left the scene at around 9pm last night.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that the fire crews remained at the scene of the fire for more than 17 hours yesterday (April 19).

They were initially called shortly after 4am to reports of a huge blaze at the derelict building, which caused a partial collapse of the latter.

The Clachnaharry Road was partially reopened to traffic yesterday afternoon.
