Poignant tributes will be paid to those who have died in conflict during the annual remembrance parade and service in Inverness which was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The parade on Sunday will form part of a weekend of events including wreath-laying ceremonies.

It will set off from Huntly Street at 2.25pm and will include members of the Inverness branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland who will be joined by civic dignitaries.

The procession will go to the war memorial in Cavell Gardens where there will be a service starting at 3pm.

Tomorrow, members of the Inverness RBLS will place wreaths at the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders Memorial in Station Square at 10am and at the Queen’s Own Highlanders Memorial in Bank Street at 10.30am.

They will then go to Tomnahurich Cemetery for 11.15am where wreaths will be placed in memory of Victoria Cross holders Vice Admiral Sir Anthony Miers and Major General Sir Robert Bellow Adams.

It will be followed by the laying of a wreath in honour of Victoria Cross holder Colour Sergeant James Munro at Craig Dunain Hospital Cemetery at 12.15pm.

The day will finish with wreaths being placed on Commonwealth war graves at Tomnahurich Cemetery at 3pm.

Anyone attending the events is asked to observe social distancing.
