UPDATE: Man in ‘serious but stable’ condition in hospital after robbery and attack in Inverness city centre, say Police Scotland

A robbery victim is in hospital with “serious but stable” injuries following an attack in the early hours of this morning.

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted and robbed by two men in the Baron Taylor Street and Lombard Street area of Inverness city centre.

Following the attack, which took place at around 1.10am, the victim’s attackers were later seen in the Union Street area.

The victim was taken to hospital where police described his condition as “serious but stable” in an update issued shortly after 11.30am.

Police have appealed for information and witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Calum Reid said: “We’d like to thank the public for their patience and assistance as officers have carried out enquiries at the scene.

“Our investigation remains ongoing and we have a number of active lines of enquiry. We ask anyone with information on the attack, who has yet to speak to police, to please come forward.
