Water supplies in Nairn are "returning to normal" following burst main on Monday morning.

Scottish Water engineers confirmed on Monday afternoon that repairs were complete.

And in a final update after 5.30pm, they confirmed that supplies were normalising again.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: "We thank you for your patience and understanding during the incident.

"We have carried out a full repair of the fault and are now returning to normal service.

"Water supply is being restored but you may experience low / intermittent pressure issues, which could be due to an airlock in the pipes. Our "Unplanned Interruption to Your Water Supply" factsheet will help you to resolve this issue.

"You might also experience discoloured water. This is normal after such an incident. Our factsheet on discoloured water provides information on how to resolve this type of issue."

The earlier water supply disruption led to knock on issues at local schools, which were unable to open on time as a result.
