A new tree was planted in Nairn to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III.

Following the King’s Coronation in May last year, a Coronation Living Heritage Fund was set up to support tree-planting initiatives across the UK.

The government fund of £2.5 million aimed to help create cleaner air and an improved natural heritage.

Now, the Rotary Club of Nairn has planted a new tree at the Links.

Rotarian Alison Hall wielded the ceremonial spade to plant the tree, assisted by Club president and Provost, Laurie Fraser, who said he hopes the new tree will last for years to come alongside those planted last year.

The tree selected was a lime, chosen in order to match the existing young trees on the Nairn Links, one of which commemorates Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
