Strictly Inverness 2024 contestant Darryl Geegan was delighted with how his So You Think You Can Drag event went at The British Legion last weekend.

On the night 10 contestants from across the Highlands and Islands faced off, with over 180 people in attendance.

It is estimated that the night raised £2300 for the annual dance contest’s organisers and hosts Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre, and Darryl could not hide his happiness at the response.

“It went amazingly well after the initial chaos of setting everything up,” he said.

“I had loads of positive feedback, and lots of people want me to make it an annual event.

“Huge thanks also to my fellow judges who gave their time, to all who provided prizes for the raffle and our helper on the door who stepped in at the last minute.

“A special shout out should go to Liz Carran, who provided original paintings for a silent auction which is still ongoing.”

Darryl has no plans for any further Strictly fundraisers, as contestants’ focus turns in earnest to the dancefloor, with the semi finals taking place on May 9 and May 10.
