PICTURES: Application to build more than 36 flats near Inshes Retail Park in Inverness is lodged
Plans to build more than 36 flats in a mix of two and three-storey blocks near a retail park in Inverness have been lodged.
Aviemore-based Upland Developments are proposing to build 36 flats and 8 cottage flats on land fronting Inshes Road and Sir Walter Scott Drive, south of Inshes Retail Park.
The residential development sees two main blocks of three-storey flats with the block of two-storey buildings for the cottage flats in between, and will be accessible from the Eagle Roundabout and will be located north of Inshes Park.
This comes after the announcement of a new housing development in Westercraigs, with 380 new homes being proposed.
The applicant stated in the proposal that they aim to deliver the affordable residential development as well as an associated parking, access and landscaping.

The masterplan for the site includes an electric vehicle charging facility in the northern part of the site, which will be proposed in a separate application.
Working on the design are Colin Armstrong Architects, known for their work on Uilebheist Distillery and Brewery in Inverness ad An Talla in Dochgarroch.
According to the plan, the site is well served by easy connections via public transport and active travel routes and the design aims to reduce reliance on cars reduce car parking allowance and ease of active travel and public transport connections.
The proposals show a combination of facing masonry and rain-screen cladding in colour and format to be agreed, aiming to be low-maintenance.
Consultation with relevant stakeholders was set to start earlier this week.
