Initial moves have been made towards creating 380 new homes at the Westercraigs site in Inverness.

Developers Robertson Homes Ltd have lodged a proposal of application notice (PAN) to build around 380 new homes as part of the Westercraigs development in south-west Inverness.

A PAN precedes a full planning application and generally sets out the vision for a proposed development in very broad terms.

Roberston Homes is proposing to create around 380 new homes on a site south-east of the city's Bowmore View, off Stornoway Drive.

Westercraigs is a large site being developed for housing over an extended period.

It has included development of the former Craig Dunain psychiatric hospital as housing.

The latest proposed development would also include associated infrastructure including primary and internal roads; parking; drainage; open space; footpaths and play parks, according to the notice.

Two public consultation events are proposed, both to be held at Kings Golf Club at Torvean. Both drop-in events, the first would take place from 5-8pm on Thursday, October 5 with the second planned for Thursday, October 26 from 1-5pm.

Both would follow a "major pre-application meeting" with Highland Council on Tuesday, October 3.

Highland Council has to let Robertson Homes know if its proposed pre-application consultation plan is sufficient or whether it believes additional notification and consultation above the statuttory minimum is required.
