Images taken by members of Inverness Camera Club have been judged to be the winners in an annual competition.

The club was top in the Highland Challenge which was rescheduled from last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The challenge group comprises camera clubs from Inverness, Shetland, Orkney, Thurso, East Sutherland, Cromarty, Dingwall, Nairn and Wick.

Formed in 1999, its aim is to promote photography throughout the Highlands by fostering collaborative learning and discussion.

The main event is an annual, full-day meeting of lectures, an exhibition and inter-club competition, with the award of the Highland Shield donated by the firm Wardrops.

This year’s host club was Nairn but due to restrictions it only featured the competition with images displayed, comments by judge Iain Cameron and the scores.

Owen Cochrane, Inverness Camera Club president, said the Highland Challenge enabled members to show their work on a regional basis, before entering national or international exhibitions.

“Partly as a result of such events, many of our members have gone on to achieve formal distinctions, awards and gold membership, both at national and international levels,” he said.
