FORMER presidents of Inverness Camera Club recalled stories from the organisation’s past at a dinner to mark its 70th anniversary.

A total of 10 from the club’s 33 roll call of post holders, along with current and former members, attended the event at the Lochardil House Hotel.

Current president Owen Cochrane outlined the club’s achievements over the past few years, including a competition last year for young photographers run in conjunction with the Inverness Courier to mark its 200th anniversary, which also coincided with the Year of the Young Person.

Mr Cochrane also spoke about the club’s participation in the inter-club competition, The Highland Challenge, and how many members over the years have gained national and international photographic awards.

On display were all the club’s trophies with the winners’ names over the decades, plus details of the various club premises over the years.

Walter Allan was presented with the Ernest Cooke Cup as the club’s photographer of the year.

It is awarded to the person presenting the highest quality of printed and digital work over a 12-month period.

Members were given a copy of the 70th anniversary booklet outlining the history of the club which moved to the Culduthel Christian Centre in 2008, where it holds twice weekly meetings from September to April covering topics such as camera craft, use of lighting and different software.
