No gain, no pain! Body waxing challenge for Strictly Inverness dancer
Ever wanted to tear a strip off a journalist? Now you can literally – and all for charity.
As part of his Strictly Inverness fundraising, Inverness Courier content editor Andy Dixon has agreed to a body waxing challenge thanks to the support and generosity of a city beauty parlour.

The Therapy Suite, in Church Street, will host the event on April 20 from 5.30pm with money raised going to the annual dance contest's organisers and hosts Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.
Andy, a 39-year-old father-of-two, has been partnered with former police officer Ruth Mason for the competition and their combined fundraising total on April 15 from all their charitable events for Strictly Inverness will determine what body parts are waxed.
"This idea was first mentioned to me by a former colleague in November last year, just after I found out I was selected for Strictly Inverness," Andy explained. "I then put it to a few of the boys at the gym and football and to my wife – and everyone seemed to think it was a good idea. Secretly, I was probably looking for a reason not to do it!
"When thinking about how it would work, I thought a painometer indicating which body parts equated to the amount of money raised could help me too – especially when some people thought the tiers might be too high!
"At the moment, between us, Ruth and I have raised almost £8500, which means being waxed almost everywhere – within reason.
"It also means every penny counts as our fundraising is now hair-raising too – and just to add to the fun, people can come along and pull off strips in return for donations: £5 to pull one strip, £10 for three strips."
The event would not be happening without the support of The Therapy Suite's Rebecca Gethins and Shona Maclean.
"We are delighted to help support such an amazing cause through Andy’s charity wax," said salon owner Rebecca. "We hope that it will be a busy evening for him!
"I don’t think he’s realised what he’s got himself into with a body wax! We are talking, legs, underarms, back and chest – and in front of his family and friends. The more they raise, the more is waxed and he’s selling strips for people to pull – under our strict supervision. Good luck Andy!"
