PICTURES: Nairn coffee morning pours in donations for Strictly Inverness charities
A busy coffee morning in Nairn helped top up a Strictly Inverness dance duo's charity funds.
Retired police officer Ruth Mason, who served for a period in the Nairn-shire area, organised the event at the Nairn United Reform Church alongside a group of dedicated supporters.
Refreshments, treats, a bake sale and raffle contributed to more than £1200 being raised for the annual dance contest's organisers and hosts Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.
"The coffee morning was a busy day and its success is thanks to all those who helped with organising, raffle prize collecting, baking and being there on the day," said Ruth, who has been partnered with Courier content editor Andy Dixon for the competition.
"Thanks to Graham's Family Dairy, Ashers Bakery, Makes by Megs and all businesses in Nairn who donated produce or prizes.
"I am extremely grateful to all friends donating a mountain of home bakes and giving their time – it is without doubt a lot of work. I am overwhelmed at the amount we raised and I hope all those who attended had a great morning.
"I can’t wait for another coffee morning – as an attendee!"
Ruth and Andy have a variety of upcoming fundraising events including a masquerade ball at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on March 29, a race night at the Westerlea Hotel in Nairn on April 6 and a ceilidh at Hootananny in Inverness on April 7.
Some other fundraising events by Strictly Inverness competitors that are coming up in the Nairn area include a quiz night at the Westerlea Hotel for Kenna Ross this Friday, while Emma MacDonald and Kaitlyn Heggie have a dinner dance at Nairn Community and Arts Centre on April 13.
