A new soft play area for younger children will open on Saturday at the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness.

The jungle-themed play area is a first for the centre and is located next to the food collective, Loch & Larder, which opened in February following investment of £2 million.

It will be suitable for children aged 18 months to 5 years and will be open daily from 10am to 5pm.

Centre manager Chris Kershaw said: "We’re delighted to open our brand-new soft play area, and with it being the first time we’ve done something like this at Eastgate we are excited to see our younger visitors enjoy the new leisure feature in the centre."

The centre is hosting the Eastgate Student Social on September 14.

Aimed at students in the Highlands, it will feature live entertainment, free activities and offers. It will taken place between 2pm and 7pm.
