A new food zone offering local produce with a street food twist has opened at the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness.

Loch & Larder welcomed its first customers today following investment of more than £2 million.

The main anchor of the new collective is Scottish Kitchen by Gary Maclean who won MasterChef: The Professionals in 2016.

The other brands are Cluck, inver mercato, Sweet Ness and Ness n Korma. Fairground Café will join the mix when it opens later in February.

The new venture aims to become a place to meet, socialise and people watch and be a destination that will drive footfall to the centre.

Its appeal is expected to span locals and tourists with the potential to trade later into the evening as the new brand becomes established.

To mark the opening, there will be free family entertainment, including face painting, balloon modelling, clowning and characters, this weekend.

On Saturday, the event runs between noon and 4pm while on Sunday it will take place between noon and 3pm.
