Motorcycle rider suffers life-threatening injuries in A87 crash near Glen Shiel

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a serious crash on the A87.

The incident, involving a Triumph Motorcycle and a Fiat motorhome, happened around 5.20pm last night on the A87 at Glen Shiel.

Emergency services attended and the 73-year-old male rider of the motorcycle was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as life threatening.

The occupants of the motorhome were checked over by the Scottish Ambulance Service and did not require hospital treatment.

The road was closed for crash investigation work to be carried out and re-opened around 3am this morning.

Sergeant Neil Macdonald said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed it and who hasn’t already spoken to police to get in touch.

“If you were in the area and saw what happened or have dash-cam footage which may assist us please contact us as soon as possible.
