A man is due to appear at court today in connection with a serious assault in Nelson Street, Inverness.

A 27-year-old man is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today following an alleged stabbing in a city street last week.

Police were called to Nelson Street in the Merkinch neighbourhood on Wednesday after receiving a report of a serious assault about 5.35pm.

A man was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault which occurred in Nelson Street, Inverness, on Wednesday November 11."

He is due to appear a court today and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
