The award-winning Loch Ness by Jacobite cruise firm announced last night it was closing – but would return.
Earlier this week the company, which runs boat tours on Loch Ness, said it would run a reduced service until Sunday.
However last night it posted a message on social media confirming it has now closed.
"Loch Ness by Jacobite will be closing our doors as of tonight," its message read.
"We thank you all for your support and we hope to welcome you all back in the future!
"It is not goodbye, but see you soon."
The firm enjoyed its most successful year to date in 2019, with visitor numbers exceeding 325,000 – up by almost 10 per cent since 2017.
Visitors using its services came from 89 countries as a successful extended winter sailings timetable indicated a year-round demand for experiences at Loch Ness.
The news of its shutdown came after it was confirmed that one of Inverness's top hotels, the Kingsmills Hotel, is closing from the start of next week in response to the crisis.
Owned by the Patio Hotels group its five star Ness Walk hotel in the city centre had already announced on Thursday its plans to close for at least 30 days.
