Street food trucks at the Highland Food and Drink Trail in Inverness will be joined by a team from London and North East Railways (LNER) on Saturday.

The trail, on a dedicated street food zone next to the River Ness, aims to showcase the best of local produce.

LNER is one of the trail's sponsors and its team will be giving away some street food related goodies, including reusable bamboo cutlery sets and cups.

LNER, which is working with the trail and Visit Inverness Loch Ness (VILN), is highlighting food and drink from the Highlands as a major attraction to bring people from throughout the UK to Inverness.

LNER director of communications Kate McFerran said Inverness was a very popular destination for people travelling with LNER, both from within the UK and abroad, with interest growing in leisure experiences involving great food.

"The Inverness region is home to a spectacular array of delectable food, drinks and fresh produce from right around the region that we are keen to promote, and the Highland Food and Drink Trail really showcases this through the mouth-watering menus that the stallholders offer," Ms McFerran said.

"The trail is a fantastic addition to all of the great attractions that Inverness already offers, and we’re delighted to see it taking off with such great success."

Douglas Hardie, one of the trail's founders, said: "We are really grateful for the support we receive from both LNER and VILN, and we are really looking forward to welcoming the LNER team to Inverness to show them how popular the trail has become.

"It’s now a significant and successful part of the Inverness food and drink scene, and is already allowing brand new businesses to develop and grow."

Street food trucks from Highland Hog Roast, Ollies Pops, Juicy Ness, Bad Girl Bakery and

Oregano will all be on the Trail on Saturday.

Trucks will also be on site until Sunday. Full details are available on HFDT social media page.
