Good food and fine weather drew crowds of hungry customers to what was hailed the largest street food event in Inverness city centre.

The newly-launched Highland Food and Drink Trail, on a dedicated street food zone next to the River Ness, aims to showcase the best of local produce.

It is led by Douglas Hardie, who runs Bad Girl Bakery in Muir of Ord, and Lesley Strang.

Mr Hardie said Saturday’s event was a huge success.

“The feedback we got was overwhelmingly positive and we hope to have illustrated what the trail could offer throughout the busy summer months and beyond,” he said.

“Not only do we have amazing street food vendors in the Highlands, but in future we will be hosting chefs from the incredible restaurants in and around Inverness, showcasing what they do and driving additional footfall to their own establishments."

Mr Hardie added: “There will be vendors on the trail most days, especially at the weekends, and we will continue to host bigger events at least once a month from now and through the summer.”
